Getting married in Switzerland is not difficult. There are no residency requirements and no blood test is needed. You must present certain documents to the civil authorities in the town in which you wish your wedding to take place and it may take some small amount of time to get your paperwork authenticated. Then, too, depending on the region in which you are marrying, it may be necessary for your wedding banns (wedding announcement) to be publish prior to the wedding. In some places this can take up to five weeks, so it is best to contact Swiss civil marriage authorities in the city in which you plan to wed before arriving in Switzerland to avoid any delays.
